The Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport offers specialized scientific knowledge in the fields of Shipping, Transport, International Trade and Entrepreneurship, as well as in the broader contexts in which the maritime industry – where Greece is sovereign – and its transport systems are inseparable.

The Department of Shipping, Trade and Transport was founded in 1998 in Chios, in harmony with the character of the Aegean and the maritime tradition of the island. Its mission is to provide high quality scientific education, to produce innovative theoretical and applied research and to link it to the country’s needs. It specializes in the interdisciplinary field of shipping and transport systems as well as a broader field of knowledge linked to the shipping industry.

Specifically, the research team of the Laboratory of Transport and Decision Making Sciences (TransDeM) of the University of the Aegean, is specialized in the fields of Transport Systems and Logistics, Sustainable Development, Innovation and Smart Specialisation. The members of the Laboratory have extensive experience in: transportation systems analysis, smart transport systems, market research planning and design, air transport and airports, freight transport, port infrastructure and services of person and goods, choice modeling in a stochastic environment, road safety and risk analysis, transport company marketing, sustainable development, smart strategy in transport and shipping, development of advanced econometric models for analyzing people ‘s transport behavior, development of technology platforms etc. http://transdem.stt.aegean.gr
